Description:

Medical students with an appropriate background in histology and pathology are provided an opportunity to review the large range of tumor material at Memorial Hospital. This includes scheduled time assisting and observing the work of one of the pathology fellows and opportunities to observe and assist in carrying out frozen sections and to participate in consultation signouts and in all conferences of the department. Review of cytology material and autopsy cases will be arranged on an individual basis, according to the needs of the particular student.Because Memorial Hospital handles complex pathologic specimens and does not have junior pathology residents, prior exposure to surgical pathology is highly recommended.
