Medical students become active members of the Orthopedic Service treating benign and malignant musculoskeletal diseases. Pathophysiology, diagnostic techniques, and surgical principles will be emphasized in an orthopedic environment. Students will be an integral part of the orthopedic unit, participating in all inpatient, outpatient, and surgical activities, as well as six hours of conferences weekly. They are required to learn the elements of musculoskeletal examination, interpret imaging studies, and present their evaluations to supervisory team members. A short formal presentation is required.
