Description:

The student functions as a member of the Infectious Disease Consultation Service at Memorial Hospital working with a fellow and attending physicians. A broad range of infectious diseases is seen, including those complicating neoplastic disease, AIDS, and other conditions resulting in impaired host immune function. The student will learn to apply microbiological laboratory methods to the diagnosis and management of infectious diseases. There is a weekly Infectious Disease Service clinical conference and a weekly Infectious Disease lecture series, as well as weekly Inter-City Infectious Disease Rounds where interesting cases are presented at various hospitals in the NY-NJ metropolitan area.

Opportunities are available for interested students to participate in clinical and laboratory research activities of the Service.
