1. Do I need an appointment to see a doctor at Memorial Sloan-Kettering?
Yes. The International Center will assist you in obtaining an appointment with a physician. Please do not schedule your trip to New York until we have confirmed your appointment.
The registration and reservation forms will help us greatly in expediting services on your behalf. They will also ensure that we reserve an interpreter should you need one. Our goal is to complete preparation for patients before they arrive.
All documents must be in English to ensure timely reviews and treatment. Sending or bringing medical documents in any other language will result in delaying your review or treatment. Memorial Sloan-Kettering cannot translate documents into English; however, we can provide a list of private translation services.
5. Why does it cost US$3,000 for a consultation with a physician?
The US$3,000 deposit is based on typical expenses related to an initial consultation. Should your consultation cost less, you will receive a refund. As a matter of safety, we recommend that you do not bring cash for payment.
6. What will it cost to obtain treatment at Memorial Sloan-Kettering?
Once a physician recommends a treatment plan, please contact the International Center to learn the required deposit. This deposit estimates the hospital and physician costs related to the proposed treatment. Upon your request, we can also provide you with a written estimate of the possible costs relating to your anticipated treatment.
No. Memorial Sloan-Kettering requires payment in full, in advance, prior to obtaining services or treatment. As a matter of safety, we recommend that you do not bring cash for payment.
11. Can Memorial Sloan-Kettering bill my insurance company?
Memorial Sloan-Kettering does not bill insurance companies or third-party administrators on behalf of foreign patients; therefore, the patient is responsible for all costs related to their care and treatment here.
13. Will I get a refund if the actual costs of my treatment are less than my advance payment?
Yes. If your actual charges are below the amount you paid in advance, you will receive a refund. The Patient Accounts Department and Physician Billing Department initiate these refunds after all charges have been processed -- typically 30 days after the end of treatment.
