Summary of Invention

The ningalins are a class of recently identified marine natural products. Ningalin and its synthetic analogs have been found to possess immunosuppressive properties. They may therefore be useful alternatives to currently available immunosuppressants, the clinical use of which is frequently complicated by adverse events.

Advantages

  • Concise total synthesis of ningalin B and analogs has been worked out.
  • Ningalins have selective immunosuppressive effects at nontoxic concentrations.

Areas of Application

Therapeutic drug with possible applications in the treatment of autoimmune or inflammatory diseases, and in organ transplantation.

Stage of Development

Animal experiments are underway, including organ transplants and anti-inflammation studies.
