Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center has a long history of successful faculty development and fellowship training. In keeping with this tradition, the goal of the Career Development Program under the SPORE is to prepare both physicians and scientists for independent careers in translational prostate cancer research. To this end, we are dedicated to recruiting new junior faculty and developing the careers of faculty who are committed to translational research in prostate cancer. In addition, the SPORE supports outstanding research fellows -- from either a clinical or basic science background -- who focus on translational research.

The Specific Aims of this Program Include:

  1. Recruit a new junior member to the faculty every one to two years, and nurture their development to becoming independent researchers in prostate cancer.

  2. Recruit and train one new senior research fellow each year who will devote 100 percent of their time to translational research for two years in addition to a third clinical year.

  3. Provide the scholarly basis for effective translational research including academic courses, weekly seminars, and programs with invited guest speakers.
