Description:
Students will have the opportunity to gain experience in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with Retinoblastoma, Ocular Melanomas and other ophthalmic cancers. They will scrub in the Operating room, assist with the examination of patients in the Retinoblastoma Center and participate in rounds and conferences. Emphasis will also be placed on the pretreatment evaluation of patients, the available modalities of treatment (Surgery, radioactive plaques, radiation and chemotherapy), and the principles by which a choice of treatment is made. Students will review pathology slides, radiology scans and they will also work on a clinical research project.
