The depression hit hard when I heard the news,
I slept for two days, just mainly tryin' to search for clues.
So I decided I would write and record an "Ep,"
Produce the beats as well, and then put it out on CD.
The perfect way to keep a journal, and also my brain occupied,
I've got to try to keep it positive and brave personified.
Every single song would be about the disease,
From different aspects and angles, and amounts of degrees.
So I stayed writing, stayed fightin, remained exciting,

Ain't no such thing as real safety, at lease lately I doubt it.
My life is owed to Hop-Hop, literally,
Cause it keeps me thinking positive instead of miserably.
I was in fear and my spirit was broken,
A young man, unsure of how to deal with emotion.

It brought me back to life and it made me whole.

Ayo, there's no answer, it's a random occurrence,
And so I'm fighting for my life, I got an anthem's endurance.
Hip-Hop has helped me keep my mind off the cancer,
Off of the chemo, off of just trying to find an answer.
And within the midst of all of this, I felt so shook,
Until I looked around the room and found my rap notebook.
And this project, "Cancerous Flow: Lyrical Journal,"
Has helped me cope, hip-hop saved me, it saved my life,
It is engraved within my soul, sounds crazy, right?
Its like the type of thing you can't explain, like when a man's in pain,
And lyricism helps to heal him, feeling less demand and strain.
It helped me to regain the state of my mind frame,
Regaining sanity in an unmistakable time frame.
It's the reason I wasn't reaching for that god damn knife,
Well I'll be damned, but hip-hop saved my god damn life.
