Our recent studies have established TGF-beta as an important regulator of T cell development, homeostasis, tolerance, and immunity. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain largely uncharacterized. With a combination of genetic, cellular, and biochemical approaches, we are addressing the following questions:
- How does TGF-beta receptor transduce signals in T cells?
- What are the TGF-beta target genes critical for its regulation of T cell activation, proliferation, differentiation, and survival?
- How do T cell receptor, T cell co-stimulatory receptor, and cytokine signaling pathways modulate TGF-beta responses in T cells?
