Dr. Bylund has spent eight years building experience as a researcher and teacher of clinician-patient communication skills. Her research interests are empathic communication in the medical encounter, doctor-patient communication about Internet information and shared decision-making. She has experience in coding communication and teaching communication skills to residents and faculty. Dr. Bylund completed her PhD in Communication Studies at Northwestern University in 2001 and was previously the Director of the ACGME Outcome Project and Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Sociomedical Sciences at Columbia University Medical Center.
