Lewis A. Sanders has been elected to the Board of Overseers of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Mr. Sanders is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AllianceBernstein LP, one of the largest publicly traded global asset management firms in the world, with approximately $770 billion in assets under management.
Mr. Sanders joined Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., Inc., in 1968 as a research analyst, establishing credentials that would lead to his being named to the Institutional Investor All-America Research Team four times. He subsequently held positions at Bernstein as Research Director, Executive Vice President, and then as President and Chief Operating Officer with senior responsibility for all research and investment management operations. In 1993, Mr. Sanders was appointed Chief Executive Officer.
After Bernstein was combined with Alliance Capital in 2000, Mr. Sanders held positions as Director, Vice Chairman, and Chief Investment Officer of Alliance. He was named Chief Executive Officer of AllianceBernstein in 2003, and in 2005 was elected Chairman of the Board.
Mr. Sanders holds a BS degree in operations research from Columbia University. He also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of The Rockefeller University.
