Program Goal
The goal of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Urologic Oncology Fellowship Program remains the same today as when it was initiated by Dr. Whitmore: to produce, for the nation, a larger cadre of superbly trained clinical scientists to become leaders in academic urologic oncology and to be highly qualified to promote improvements in medical care made possible by the developments in modern biomedical science and to reduce the incidence, morbidity and mortality of cancer.
There are two types of fellowships (research only and clinical plus research.) Funded by an NIH T32 Training Grant and an NCI SPORE Career Development Award, research fellowships are available to urologists interested in expanding their training in basic laboratory or outcomes research. The clinical-research fellowship is structured to provide a two-and-a-half- to three-year experience in research and clinical training. The fellowship is the largest and oldest of its kind in the world.
