As the executive office of Research and Technology Management (RTM), the Office of the Vice President is dedicated to providing the utmost support to all members of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center research community and the public it serves.
In addition to the Vice President for RTM, the Office of the Vice President houses the director of RTM and the manager for Research Education and Communication. Together with the directors of Sponsored Projects, Research Administration, Industrial Affairs, and Animal Subject Research, and supported by a cadre of research administration, and support professionals, they provide leadership, guidance, and instruction for research financial, and strategic planning; compliance with sponsored projects, research administration and responsible conduct of research regulations and policy; partnerships with industry and other institutions; intellectual property management; and the use of animal research subjects.
The Office of the Vice President also supports various venues that help to foster effective communication among all the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center research community constituents. In addition to publishing an in-house weekly electronic newsletter, offering one-on-one consultations on all aspects of RRM, and sponsoring workshops and seminars throughout the year, RTM and the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, co-sponsor a Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) course for all postdoctoral researchers and Gerstner Sloan-Kettering graduate students. This Web-based, self-paced course includes with four face-to-face sessions and covers these essential RCR topics: research misconduct (including whistleblowing), data management, use of animal subjects, use of human subjects, conflicts of interest, authorship, publication and peer review, and collaboration and mentoring.
