Each year, ASCO recognizes young investigators from a range of oncology specialties through the ASCO Foundation. At ASCO's annual meeting this year, six promising physicians who are beginning their careers at Memorial Sloan-Kettering received Young Investigator Awards, which are presented to physicians in their final year of a fellowship program or in their first year after completing their fellowships. Each recipient receives a one-year grant to begin his or her own investigative studies.

The recipients were Richard D. Carvajal, an assistant attending physician on the Melanoma and Sarcoma Service in the Department of Medicine; Ping Chi, Vi K. Chiu, and Daniel C. Danila, all fellows in the Department of Medicine; Diane Reidy Lagunes, an assistant attending physician on the Gastrointestinal Oncology Service in the Department of Medicine; and Udo Rudloff, a fellow in the Department of Surgery.
