Stipend

Medical student summer fellows receive a stipend of $5,500 for participating in the eight-week program. Summer fellows are hired as temporary summer employees of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. All participants must provide employment eligibility verification; non-US citizens must submit valid work authorization documentation. Stipends are paid in four installments (minus applicable federal, state, and city payroll taxes) according to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center payroll schedule.

Housing

Students are responsible for locating and paying for their own housing. However, a limited number of housing spots in Manhattan have been reserved for program participants who come from outside the New York metropolitan area. Accommodations include apartment-style, air-conditioned residence halls with kitchen, shared bedroom within a shared suite at a cost of approximately $300 per week for eight weeks. NOTE: For students considering the June 21-August 13 program dates, housing is not available from August 8-13.

Accepted students reserving housing through the program will need to submit a three-week deposit by March 26, 2010. Deposits may be paid by certified check, money order or credit card using MasterCard, American Express or Discover. (No Visa, cash or personal checks accepted). The balance of housing charges is due by the end of the student's first week in housing.

Any cancellation of the housing reservation after March 31, 2010 will result in a penalty of $500 charged against the student's deposit.

All housing costs, including cancellation penalties, are the responsibility of the student.
