Prior to joining Memorial Sloan-Kettering, Andy served as the associate director of the Office of Science and Technology Development at Columbia University and headed the office responsible for the Health Sciences Campus. Before joining academia, Andy was a licensing attorney at Celanese Corporation and a patent attorney at Arthur, Dry and Kalish in New York City.

Andy has a long history of developing inventions, starting with his own invention, which he developed into a profitable business as a teenager. He has participated in, and been instrumental in, the founding of many successful companies based upon patents and know-how. Andy also has played a key role in the licensing of numerous blockbuster inventions originating from academia.
