Alan's Story
It was the fall of 2006 and Alan Stracke, a 61-year-old sociology professor, had begun his 34th year of teaching at Champlain College, in Burlington, VT. Suddenly, halfway through the semester, he began feeling extremely fatigued and had difficulty breathing. Little did he know that this would lead to a diagnosis of T cell lymphoma and a stem cell transplant.

Dr. Perales' Perspective
Alan's care was overseen by Miguel-Angel Perales, a medical oncologist who specializes in allogeneic (donor-derived) transplantation of blood-forming stem cells. Dr. Perales is also the Director of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's Adult Bone Marrow Transplantation Fellowship Program.
