The Cancer is Over, Now What? -- For young adults (21 to 39)
Kevin Oeffinger, MD, explains what you need to know to be an informed medical consumer throughout adulthood.

Patients who are followed in the Pediatric Survivor Clinic are transitioned to the Adult Long-Term Follow-Up Program around the age of 21 years.

Health Education

One of the program's goals is to provide information to patients about staying healthy. It is important for patients and families to be knowledgeable about the effects of past cancer treatments, as well as how to prevent future health problems and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

"Our goal is to cure cancer while maximizing the health of the survivor"

Some adult survivors may experience feelings of isolation, fear of recurrence, and stress over coping with ongoing healthcare needs. These concerns as well as coping with complex issues involving employment and insurance can impact your sense of well-being. Our social worker, Barbara Golby, CSW, will assist you with these matters.
