Our experienced team of doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals who treat cancerous and noncancerous tumors of the adrenal gland is dedicated to providing the highest-quality treatment and care for our patients.

    • Our Approach & Expertise
To care for patients with adrenal tumors, specialists from endocrinology, nuclear medicine, surgery, medical oncology, and interventional radiology collaborate in the development of an individualized treatment plan for each patient.
    • Our Team of Experts
Memorial Sloan-Kettering has a multidisciplinary group of doctors who provide comprehensive treatment for patients with all types of adrenal tumors.
    • Overview
The majority of adrenal tumors are benign, noncancerous growths. Only about 5 to 10 percent of adrenal nodules are malignant.
    • Incidentalomas
Incidental adenomas of the adrenal gland -- commonly called incidentalomas -- are tumors that are found unexpectedly during diagnostic imaging for an unrelated health problem.
    • Aldosteronomas (Conn Syndrome)
Hyperaldosteronism refers to the overproduction of aldosterone, a hormone that raises blood pressure and lowers potassium levels. Aldosteronomas (Conn syndrome) -- a type of benign adrenal tumor that produces excess aldosterone -- is a common cause of hyperaldosteronism.
    • Cortisol-Producing Tumors (Cushing's Syndrome)
Some adrenal tumors produce too much cortisol, a hormone that affects metabolism and helps the body recover from physical stress due to surgery, injury, and infection.
    • Pheochromocytomas and Paragangliomas
Pheochromocytomas are adrenal tumors that produce excess catecholamines (epinephrine and norepinephrine).
    • Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma
Malignant adrenal tumors (adrenal cortical carcinoma) are very rare, and can produce excess hormones, causing a wide variety of symptoms.
    • Follow-Up Care & Support
Memorial Sloan-Kettering offers a wide range of programs to help patients manage some of the other issues that may arise as a result of adrenal tumor diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
