Our Central Nervous System Disease Management Team sees more than 900 patients with primary brain tumors each year -- more than are seen by most other cancer centers in the United States or by any other hospital in New York.

Having the Right Diagnosis

Choosing the most appropriate treatment for a brain tumor depends upon having the correct diagnosis. This is particularly true for brain and spinal cord tumors, as there are more than 120 different types -- each with a separate pathology, biology, and each requiring a different diagnostic and therapeutic approach. Memorial Sloan-Kettering's neuropathologists are expert in identifying the specific features and characteristics of these different types of brain cancer to ensure the right diagnosis.
