Although there is no cure for radiation fibrosis syndrome, several treatments can help patients function and feel better, says cancer rehabilitation specialist Michael Stubblefield, of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Physical therapy can help stretch muscles and improve muscle strength. Medications such as nerve-stabilizing drugs, analgesics, and Botox injections can relieve pain and reduce muscle spasms. Orthotic devices can ease problems associated with movement, including a clenched jaw or weak neck muscles.
