Memorial Sloan-Kettering notes with sadness the death of Lloyd J. Old, who was internationally recognized as one of the founders and standard bearers of the field of tumor immunology. His research enabled the design and development of tumor-specific vaccines and targeted antibodies. The mentor to hundreds of young researchers, he had been at the institution since 1958.
