Atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor (AT/RT) is a type of cancer of the brain or spine. These tumors grow quickly and can spread to other areas of the brain and around the spine.
The purpose of this Children’s Oncology Group study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of surgery, intensive chemotherapy, and three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy in patients with AT/RT. Treatment for these tumors has included lower doses of chemotherapy than those to be assessed in this study.
Researchers will also establish a database containing genetic and biological information about these tumors.
