Pharmacy PGY-2 Oncology Residencies: PGY-2 Oncology Residency - Adults

The Pharmacy Department at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center recognizes the value and need for an oncology specialty residency for pharmacists seeking a career in oncology practice. The Adult Oncology Specialty Residency provides advanced training in clinical therapeutics for the adult cancer patient. The main goals of this residency are to:

  • Develop and build the knowledge and clinical skills required to practice as an independent oncology practitioner
  • Emphasize the role of continuous professional development (CPD) through literature evaluation, didactic lectures, roundtable discussions, self-learning, and continuous self-reflection
  • Apply evidence-based guidelines and standards in tailoring the treatment plan to maximize patient care and outcomes

  • Integrative Oncology (Herbal Medicine)

Elective Rotations

During the one month of elective rotations, residents can begin a new rotation as approved by the program director or choose one of the following rotations:

  • Head and Neck/Sarcoma/Melanoma Inpatient
  • Breast: Inpatient
  • Gastrointestinal: Inpatient
  • Lung: Inpatient
  • Pediatric: Inpatient
  • Any Outpatient Clinic

Eligibility
  • Successful completion of an ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy program
  • Successful completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency
  • Eligibility for pharmacist licensure in New York State (residents are required to obtain pharmacist licensure in the State of New York)
  • Interview in the Personal Placement Service (PPS) at ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting
