Assistant Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery for Robotics
I am a board-certified urologic surgeon who specializes in robotic surgery. I serve as the Assistant Director of the Minimally Invasive Surgical Program in charge of robotics and lead Memorial Sloan-Kettering’s operating room robotic subcommittee.
I returned to the Center after spending 20 years in a surgical oncology practice in Connecticut, where my work centered on the diagnosis and treatment of men and women of all ages with urologic cancers. Over that time I had the privilege of caring for many patients and their families who were faced with a wide variety of urologic malignancies.
During the last six years my efforts have been exclusively devoted to developing an expertise in the use of robotic surgery to treat patients with cancers of the genitourinary system. I came back to Memorial Sloan-Kettering specifically to foster the development of the robotic surgical program at the Center. My goal in this new position is to optimize the use of this technology and to ensure that the very best results are achieved for each and every patient.
Robotic surgery is an evolving technology that must be carefully performed and rigorously evaluated. I have performed several hundred robotic operations and am convinced that this innovative approach to cancer surgery can achieve excellent outcomes while lessening the side effects that can result from any surgical intervention.
My clinical research focuses on the novel application of new surgical technologies and developing optimal cancer treatment strategies for each individual patient.
