As a diagnostic radiologist with an interest in gastrointestinal malignancies, I specialize in the use of cutting-edge methods to diagnose and stage cancers of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and colon. These include virtual colonoscopy, PET and CT scanning, CT enteroclysis, and barium studies. I serve as director of the Radiology Department's CT section and director of gastrointestinal radiology.
My research interests include early detection of colon cancer through combined structural and molecular imaging approaches, for which I have been awarded two internal grants from The Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. I present the results of this research and give lectures at the meetings of societies of which I am a member, such as the Society of Gastrointestinal Radiologists and the Radiological Society of North America.
My contribution to the team approach in caring for patients involves very close cooperation with the colorectal surgeons and gastroenterologists in meetings and during informal consultations in efforts to accurately diagnose and stage colon cancer, malignant bowel obstruction, and recurrent rectal cancer among other gastrointestinal problems.
