I am a Urologic surgeon with expertise in the treatment of cancers involving the urinary tract, including those of the bladder, urethra, kidney, and prostate. My primary areas of clinical interest are:
- Conservative therapies and prevention for superficial bladder cancers
- Bladder-sparing treatment/surgery for invasive bladder cancer
- Urinary reconstruction after cystectomy including continent urethral diversion (neobladders), continent stomal diversions, and ileal conduits
- Multimodality treatment for patients with advanced urethral or bladder cancers
- Nerve-sparing techniques for both invasive bladder cancer and prostate cancer
- Surgical techniques to decrease blood loss with radical prostate surgery
- Kidney-sparing surgery for renal cell cancers
I am currently heading the following clinical trials:
- A Pilot Study: Genetic Susceptibility to Tumor Recurrence and Progression in Patients with Non-Muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer
- A Randomized Study of the Efficacy of Low Venous Pressure General Anesthesia Versus Combined Spinal-Epidural Anesthesia in Decreasing Blood Loss During Radical Retropubic Prostatectomy
