I am a board-certified internist, pulmonologist, and intensivist with special expertise in critical care medicine, particularly in the fields of severe sepsis and acute respiratory failure. I also direct the critical care medicine fellowship program and critical care research program in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. My research efforts are focused on innovative therapies for severe sepsis and acute lung injury. I serve as principal investigator for several clinical trials in septic shock and ventilator-associated pneumonia.
