Miguel-Angel Perales, MD
Director, Adult Bone Marrow Transplantation Fellowship Program
I am a medical oncologist with expertise in donor-derived hematopoietic (blood-forming) stem cell transplantation. Hematopoietic stem cells from a healthy sibling or an unrelated volunteer adult donor can cure many patients with diseases of the blood and bone marrow, including leukemias and lymphomas. I also conduct laboratory and clinical research investigating new ways to enhance the recovery of the immune system after a transplant. My colleagues and I are also evaluating new approaches -- including cancer vaccines -- to using the immune system to treat cancer.
