Christopher G. Azzoli
I am a medical oncologist who specializes in the treatment of patients with lung cancer. I design and conduct clinical trials of new drugs for lung cancer. I also conduct laboratory experiments to discover why certain cancers are more sensitive to chemotherapy than others.
I have a special interest in patients with non-small cell lung cancer who are treated with surgery. I am interested in better ways to deliver chemotherapy either before or after surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. Chemotherapy delivered after surgery is known as "adjuvant chemotherapy." I am interested in developing blood tests which, in the future, may help doctors decide which lung cancer patients are most likely to benefit from adjuvant chemotherapy.
