Svetlana Mironov, MD
Although my specialty is cross-sectional imaging for the diagnosis of many types of cancer, my area of expertise is gynecologic imaging. I use ultrasound and CT scans to detect and characterize pelvic masses that are clinically suggestive of cancer. In collaboration with gynecologic oncologists, I also detect early recurrent cancers using a combination of tumor markers with modern imaging modalities.

I am participating in collaborative research projects conducted by gynecologic oncologists and urologists, including a few research protocols investigating the effectiveness of different anticancer medications. We are evaluating treatment response to the drugs using modern multislice computer tomography, which allows precise measurements of the tumors before and after treatment.

For a number of years, I have actively participated in the gynecologic treatment and planning conference, regularly conducted by gynecologic surgeons, gynecologic oncologists, radiation oncologists and pathologists. I provide radiologic support to this conference and participate in treatment planning, tailored for each specific patient.
