I am a surgical pathologist with a special interest in tumors of the nervous system, bone, and soft tissue, and my principal expertise is in the diagnosis of tumors and tumor-like conditions affecting these areas. I am involved in several collaborative research projects, including work on an animal model for the direct infusion of chemotherapeutic drugs into the brain stem, which we hope will lead to a more effective treatment for brain stem gliomas in children. I am also interested in the application of electron microscopy (EM) to the diagnosis and subclassification of brain tumors, and I routinely use EM as an aid in diagnostic work.
