Marisa A. Kollmeier
I am a board-certified radiation oncologist with particular clinical and research interest in genitourinary malignancies, including bladder, prostate, and testicular cancers. My collegues and I use sophisticated radiation technology -- including intensity-modulated radiation therapy(IMRT) and image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) -- to optimize therapeutic outcomes while minimizing normal tissue toxicity.
My specific interests include the use of prostate brachytherapy (implantation of radioactive seeds) to deliver high radiation doses to the prostate while minimizing the exposure to normal surrounding tissues, such as the bladder and rectum. In addition, I have particular interest in bladder-preserving strategies using combined-modality approaches as an alternative to radical cystectomy for select patients with bladder cancer.
