Stuart M. Lichtman, FACP
For the past fifteen years, I have been actively involved treating patients with cancer who are 65 years of age and older. The number of people over 65 is increasing rapidly, and there is a tremendous need to know how to effectively care for these cancer patients in a way that is both skillful and compassionate. I have been a participant in a number of research organizations including the Cancer and Leukemia Group B's Committee on Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics and the Cancer in the Elderly Committee; the Scientific Advisory Board of the Geriatric Oncology Consortium; and the International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG) and its Taskforce on Geriatric Assessment.
I have been named to head the Chemotherapy Taskforce of SIOG and I am a member of the Renal Toxicity Taskforce. I will also be a participant on the Program Committee of the 2006 meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology by leading the Patient Care Tract. My clinical interests have been in the treatment of gynecologic malignancies, lymphoma, solid tumors, and the study of supportive care and quality of life.
