Stephen B. Solomon
I am an interventional radiologist, a physician who uses x-ray, CT, ultrasound, and MR images to perform procedures less invasively. Rather than having to make an incision to see inside a patient, the images allow us to see inside and perform procedures without incisions.
My particular area of interest is thermal ablation of tumors with techniques such as radiofrequency ablation (RFA) or cryoablation. I use thermal ablation to treat kidney, liver, lung, and bone tumors.
Some of my current research projects involve using robotics to perform procedures more accurately, following patients with PET imaging after ablation, and studying the immune system's reaction to tumor ablation.
