Katherine N. DuHamel
I am a health psychologist who has recently joined MSKCC's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Prior to joining MSKCC, I worked in cancer prevention and control at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. With my colleagues at Mount Sinai and their collaborators, I am testing the impact of a pain management communication skills intervention developed for breast cancer patients, as well as stage-matched and culturally sensitive materials designed to increase colorectal cancer screening among African Americans. With colleagues at Mount Sinai and MSKCC, I am also testing a cognitive-behavioral intervention designed to reduce cancer survivors' stress symptoms after stem cell transplant. In addition to my work as an assistant professor at Mount Sinai, I was recently the co-director of the Zirinsky Mood Disorders Center at Beth Israel Medical Center and an assistant clinical professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
