Brain Tumor Center: Grant Winners

Pictured: Timothy Chan Timothy Chan received a 2009 Brain Tumor Center Grant to support his work on the function of a tumor suppressor called PTPRD, which is frequently inactivated in people with glioblastoma.

Through the generous donations of the F.M. Kirby Foundation, the Brain Tumor Center has been able to annually fund the top research proposals submitted by Memorial Sloan Kettering's faculty who are conducting brain tumor-related clinical and/or basic science research. All applications are peer-reviewed for outstanding scientific merit by key leadership within the Center. After one year of funding, based on milestones and key findings, grant winners may request a second year of support.
