The number of breast reconstruction options available to women undergoing mastectomy after breast cancer can be overwhelming, and weighing their pros and cons can be challenging and stressful. The purpose of this study is to learn what works best for patients having breast reconstruction after mastectomy. Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is participating in this multicenter study with other institutions from across the country.
Participants are asked to complete questionnaires before reconstructive surgery and four times after reconstruction, for up to two years after surgery. The questionnaires survey patients’ feelings about how they feel about the appearance of their reconstructed breasts, their physical function, and their psychosocial well-being.
