Full Title
Measuring Patient Satisfaction with Facial Appearance: Development and Validation of a New Patient-Reported Outcome Measure
Phase
Pilot
Purpose

The purpose of this study is to develop a questionnaire to measure patients’ satisfaction with their facial appearance following reconstructive head and neck surgery. Researchers hope that such a questionnaire will improve the understanding of reconstructive head and neck surgery results and enhance patient care.

Participants who have already had surgery for head and neck cancer will be interviewed about the reconstruction they had after the surgery. The interviewer will ask questions about the patient’s satisfaction with reconstruction after head and neck surgery.

The study will also include people who may be having reconstructive head and neck surgery. These individuals will be asked to complete a questionnaire before and at least three months after the reconstructive surgery in order to compare the results.

Eligibility

Participants in this study include patients who had reconstructive head and neck surgery in the seven years before the study, as well as patients being referred to plastic surgeons to have reconstructive head and neck surgery.
