Late detection and tumor relapse are the primary reasons why prostate cancer is the second most lethal cancer for men (behind lung cancer). Anti-androgen therapy and castration form the primary treatment options. However, the tumor invariably becomes resistant and ultimately lethal. He is involved in the development of genomic technology to accurately detect and predict poor prognosis. This would enable not only to tailor a personalized treatment regiment, but also prevent unnecessary castration for patients with non-aggressive form of the disease, improving the quality of life.

Kamlesh was born and raised in India and remains a fan of cricket. When he is not watching or playing the sport, he resorts to photography.
