Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is located in New York, in Manhattan's Upper East Side, adjacent to the Cornell University Weill Medical College and the Rockefeller University. This rich scientific environment provides many unique and unparalleled research training opportunities.
A Medicinal or Organic chemist position (PhD — postdoctoral level) is available immediately in a multidisciplinary team working in the discovery of chaperone modulators. The team’s efforts focus on understanding mechanisms associated with regulation of pathogenic systems by molecular chaperones. The ultimate goal of the team is to translate these findings into novel treatments for cancers and neurodegenerative diseases. Efforts are conducted through collaborative efforts with scientists at Rockefeller University and Weill Cornell Medical College.
Responsibilities include development of synthetic methodologies for the creation of new agents, synthesis and characterization of new compounds, and development of new insights into structure-function relationships. Chemistry efforts will be guided by structure-based design and in-house developed functional assays. Candidates with experience in heterocyclic chemistry and development of structure-activity relationships, and ability to work in a team environment are encouraged to apply.
