The Nanotechnology Center plans to accomplish its goal of developing nanotechnology for the treatment and diagnosis of cancer by bringing together relevant experts from both within and outside Memorial Sloan-Kettering, through the following activities to:
- Coordinate and financially support nanotechnology research in basic science, in translational laboratories and core facilities, and on clinical teams
- Expedite the translation of new discoveries by providing guidance to investigators on issues of intellectual property, support for collaborations with the pharmaceutical or nanotechnology industries on early-phase investigations, and help in managing the transfer of technologies from early-phase investigations to the clinical arena
- Provide education and training to encourage new investigators to join the field of nanotechnology and help established investigators to share and improve their work
