Trudy Nan Small, MD

I specialize in the care of children undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for congenital immune deficiencies, as well as children with hematologic cancers or bone marrow failure. I diagnose children with immune deficiencies, determine the best way to treat them, and care for them after their transplantation.

In my role on the Steering Committee of the Primary Immunodeficiency Research Consortium (PIDTC), I am part of a group of immunologists and transplant specialists who are trying to improve the lives and survival of children with these disorders. My other areas of expertise include infections that can be acquired after transplantation, and ways to avoid diseases that are preventable by vaccines in patients undergoing cancer therapy and autologous (from self) and allogeneic (from a non-self donor) hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
