The Office of Research and Project Administration (ORPA) works with various departments at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center to provide the highest level of service to the research community. ORPA helps put investigators in contact with the Development Office to obtain funds from private foundations, the Junior Faculty Council to assist junior investigators, and the Library to provide resources for their research.
Development officers and the grants management specialists in Grants and Contracts, a unit of the Office of Research and Project Administration, collaborate to assist investigators in securing support for their research projects. The Development Office works closely with professional foundations to identify and obtain research funds for investigators, junior faculty, and research fellows and serves as Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center’s liaison to many of the foundations that provide seed grants, which aid investigators in developing preliminary data and research results that may lead to future NIH funding.
Working in conjunction with the Junior Faculty Council, Grants and Contracts provides up-to-date funding opportunity announcements targeted to young or junior investigators and offers grant-writing and proposal development seminars and workshops. Composed of Memorial Sloan-Kettering physicians, the Junior Faculty Council advocates on behalf of the junior faculty (instructors, clinical assistant attendings, and assistant attendings) and regarding issues, including research that are, important to new and junior faculty members.
