Human Oncology & Pathogenesis Program: How to Apply

You must be a postdoctoral PhD researcher to be considered for support through the Translational Research Oncology Training Program (TROT).

For Internal Applicants

Application Available
The internal application for the 2013-2014 academic year is now available.

Anyone who is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is considered an internal applicant. Application requirements for internal applicants include the following:

  • You must have an appointment either a) in the laboratory of a designated Preceptor or b) with an experienced investigator who has a proven track record of mentorship and plans to apply for Preceptor status as a participant in TROT 
  • Three letters of recommendation describing your qualifications to perform scientific research; at least one must be submitted by your proposed Preceptor, and at least one must come from an investigator outside Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, preferably from your PhD training
  • Curriculum vitae
  • List of publications
  • Statement of your research goals and your relationship to your proposed training program (one page maximum)
  • Your research training goals (five pages maximum), including:
    • The scientific background for your project, including appropriate citations to scientific literature
    • A description, with citations, of the questions your research is intended to answer and your specific approach (strategies, methods) to these problems
    • brief statement of the significance of your research project

For External Applicants

Anyone who does not currently hold an appointment at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is considered an external applicant. Application requirements for external applicants include the following:

  • You must propose an appointment to the laboratory of a designated Preceptor at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
  • Three letters of recommendation describing your qualifications to perform scientific research; at least one must be submitted by your proposed Preceptor, and at least one must come from an investigator outside Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, preferably from your PhD training
  • Curriculum vitae
  • List of publications
  • Statement of research goals and relationship to proposed training program (one page maximum)
  • Your research training goals, including (five pages maximum):
