Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and IBM have agreed to collaborate on the development of a powerful tool built upon IBM Watson in order to provide medical professionals with improved access to current and comprehensive cancer data and practices. “I think that if properly applied, this has the potential of totally changing the way we conduct medicine,” says Larry Norton, Deputy Physician-in-Chief of Breast Cancer Programs at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. “Watson's capability to analyze huge volumes of data and reduce it down to critical decision points is absolutely essential to improve on our ability to deliver effective therapies,” adds Memorial Sloan-Kettering President and CEO Craig Thompson.
