Shanu Modi, a physician on the Breast Cancer Medicine Service, has been named the incumbent of the Patricia and James Cayne Chair for Junior Faculty.
Shanu Modi, a physician on the Breast Cancer Medicine Service, has been named the incumbent of the Patricia and James Cayne Chair for Junior Faculty. Dr. Modi is a medical oncologist whose clinical practice is devoted solely to the care of patients with breast cancer. Her research focus is the clinical development of new therapies for the treatment of breast cancer, with a particular emphasis on evaluating targeted biological anticancer agents. Currently, she is involved in phase I and phase II clinical trials to evaluate novel anti-HER2 therapies.
Dr. Modi received her MD degree in 1995 from the University of Alberta. After completing residencies in internal medicine and medical oncology in Canada, she came to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2001 as a breast cancer research fellow and joined the faculty in 2005. She is board certified in medical oncology.
The chair Dr. Modi holds was established by Patricia and James Cayne to support a promising young clinical researcher whose work focuses on breast cancer.
