Memorial Sloan Kettering offers comprehensive support services to help you cope with the full range of challenges that can come with cancer treatment and survival.
We understand that fighting cancer and coping with the aftereffects of treatment can be overwhelming. Our experts are skilled in identifying and managing the various symptoms and complications associated with the treatment of lymphomas — as well as the emotional and psychological aspects of living with the disease.
People facing the challenges of cancer survivorship can access a variety of support services through our Survivorship Center.
During treatment for lymphoma, you may experience a decrease in your strength and endurance and an increase in fatigue. At MSK, physical and occupational therapists will work closely with your medical team to help you maintain your physical well-being both during and after treatment. See Rehabilitation for further information about our services, including appointment information.
Our Counseling Center offers individual and group counseling sessions to help patients and their families address the problems they may encounter in adjusting to life during and after treatment. We have psychologists and psychiatrists who specialize in treating lymphoma patients.
Integrative Medicine Service
Our Integrative Medicine Service is designed to enhance patients’ quality of life through healing regimens that address the body, mind, and spirit. Beneficial complementary therapies include various types of massage, acupuncture, hypnotherapy, meditation, visualization and other mind-body therapies, music therapy, and nutritional counseling, as well as classes such as yoga, tai chi, and chair aerobics.
Palliative Care and Pain Management
Sometimes treatment can produce painful or uncomfortable side effects, and sometimes the goal is not to treat the cancer but to treat its symptoms. Our experts in Palliative Care and Pain Management are devoted to helping people with these issues.
Help for Older Patients
A diagnosis of cancer is difficult at any age, but older patients face unique challenges. MSK is committed to providing cancer patients aged 65 and older with the treatment, facilities, and support they need.
MSK offers the services of a multidisciplinary geriatrics team, which includes physicians, clinical nurse specialists, social workers, nutritionists, and psychiatrists, as well as members of the Palliative Care and Pain Management Service and the Integrative Medicine Service. The programs and care the team provides focus on the needs of elderly cancer patients.
For more information about our services for older patients as well as for their family and friends, visit the Help for Older Patients section of our website.
Screening & Wellness
Memorial Sloan Kettering provides numerous prevention, screening, and wellness services. Many of our lymphoma patients live for many, many years after the treatment of lymphoma or with lymphoma as an ongoing condition. It is important to take care of your whole body to ensure the best of health. You can find information about these services, guidance on how to stop smoking, and instruction on how to follow a healthy diet on our website in the Prevention & Screening section.
