CAR T-cell therapies are a form of immunotherapy where some of a patient's T cells are removed, modified in the laboratory to recognize a protein on cancer cells, multiplied, and returned to the patient to provoke an immune attack against cancer. Sometimes the new T cells cause side effects related to the immune system's response to the treatment.

This study is assessing the safety and effectiveness of two drugs against meningiomas that contain certain genetic mutations. One mutation is in the SMO gene and the other is in the NF2 gene. Patients whose tumors contain an SMO mutation will receive the drug vismodegib, which blocks the receptor for the SMO protein. Those whose tumors contain NF2 mutations will receive GSK2256098, which seems to work better against tumors with this mutation. Both drugs are taken orally (by mouth).

The purpose of this study is to see if delivering laser light directly to the prostate to activate a light-sensitive drug is a safe and effective treatment for prostate cancer that has come back after radiation therapy. The goal of this treatment is to eliminate any remaining prostate cancer cells. This approach is a form of photodynamic therapy (PDT).

Breast cancer (TNBC) and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that spread to other parts of the body (metastasize) are usually treated with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and/or radiation therapy. In this study, researchers want to see if using stereotactic body radiosurgery (SBRT) to all metastatic tumors plus standard therapy is more effective than standard therapy alone in patients with oligometastatic TNBC or NSCLC (five or fewer metastatic tumors).

Metaiodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) is a substance taken up specifically by neuroblastoma, pheochromocytoma, or paraganglioma tumor cells. MIBG can be combined with radioactive iodine (131I) in the laboratory to form the radioactive compound 131I-MIBG. The 131I-MIBG compound concentrates more in cancer cells than in normal cells. It may therefore deliver more radiation directly to cancer cells while sparing normal organs.

Researchers are doing this study to find out whether combining the standard chemotherapy for head and neck cancer with the immunotherapy drugs cetuximab and cemiplimab is a safe treatment. They also want to know if receiving this combination treatment before surgery may allow patients to forgo the standard radiation treatment given after surgery.

In this study, researchers are assessing the safety and effectiveness of using the drug ruxolitinib in patients with T-cell lymphoma or natural killer (NK)-cell lymphoma that has come back or continued to grow despite prior treatment. Ruxolitinib is already approved for treating a bone marrow disease called myelofibrosis. It works by inhibiting a protein called JAK, which works with another protein called STAT to promote the growth of many T-cell and NK-cell lymphomas. By blocking JAK, ruxolitinib may cause lymphomas to shrink.

Women with a mutation in the BRCA1 or BRCA2 genes are at increased risk for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. However, the cancer risk estimates for these gene mutations are currently wide-ranging and non-specific. A new form of genetic testing, called "genetic risk modifier testing," may give women with BRCA1/2 gene mutations more specific estimates of their risk of developing breast cancer.

Deficient mismatch repair (dMMR) happens when a cell becomes unable to repair mistakes that happen during the normal process of cell division. Standard treatments for early-stage rectal cancer and solid tumors including endometrial cancer include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery. In this study, researchers are assessing the safety and effectiveness of giving the investigational immunotherapy dostarlimab first in people with locally advanced MMR solid tumors or in people with early stage dMMR endometrial cancer and a strong desire for fertility preservation. Doctors will then evaluate patients' response to treatment before considering standard chemoradiation and/or surgery. Patients whose tumors respond completely to dostarlimab alone can be followed with close surveillance and no surgery.

Daunorubicin, cytarabine, and gemtuzumab ozogamicin are different chemotherapy drugs used to treat acute myeloid leukemia (AML). CPX-351 is made up of daunorubicin and cytarabine. It is created in a way that makes the drugs stay in the bone marrow longer and could be less likely to cause heart problems than traditional anthracycline drugs, a common class of chemotherapy drugs used in cancer care.
