I am a radiation oncologist whose clinical practice is dedicated exclusively to the care of breast cancer patients. My research is primarily focused on developing innovations that permit effective delivery of radiation to the breast and regional lymph nodes while minimizing unnecessary radiation exposure to healthy organs.
For example, along with my colleagues in the Department of Radiation Oncology, I have been refining a technique called multibeam intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for select patients with locally advanced breast cancer. This approach allows customization of the radiation beams to specific areas while minimizing high doses to the underlying heart and lungs. My goal in studying this approach in a clinical trial here at Memorial Sloan Kettering [Pilot Study of Multi-Beam Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy for Node-Positive Breast Cancer Requiring Treatment of the Internal Mammary Lymph Nodes] is to improve disease outcomes and simultaneously enhance quality of life for breast cancer patients by reducing treatment-related toxicities.
My other research interests include the impact of reconstructive surgery on the ability to deliver radiation, and the optimization of radiation techniques in patients who choose to receive implant-based reconstruction. I am also involved in the development of many therapeutic protocols combining radiation, chemotherapy, and surgery for breast cancers.

Research is integral to our mission at Memorial Sloan Kettering, and clinical trials help us discover better forms of patient care and treatment. For you, this could mean access to a new therapy or therapy combination. Click to see a list of the trials I’m currently leading.

Most major health insurers offer plans that include MSK as one of their in-network providers. If MSK is in-network, it means all our doctors are too. Medicaid and New York State Medicare also provide benefits for care at MSK.Learn more
